I have lived my entire life in Utah, growing up in a family of four kids our vacations consisted of camping in the mountains or trips to Escalante where my father was born, sleeping in a camping trailer while visiting my grandparents. Not once did we venture very far from home.
Once married, Mr. Jewels and I never ventured far from home as well. It was only after being married for 15 years that an opportunity arose for him to travel to Turkey for a school conference and we both took this chance to celebrate our 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th years of marriage by flying across the world and seeing parts of Turkey and Greece. It was amazing.
Now that we are here living in California for the time being we haven't yet ventured far from our house. The beach is a short 40 minute drive on a very curvy road. The kids and I and some of our new friends took a drive out last thursday. The sky was cloudy and the water freezing, but that doesn't deter any of the kids from having fun. We even spotted some dolphins. When we saw the dolphins, I just couldn't believe it, it was like, how did I get here? am I really at the ocean seeing dolphins and are we really living in this place? It is still all so new and different for me.
On the drive there and back through a little town called Watsonville, they have a street named after the Tuttles so we just had to take a picture. By the way, Watsonville strawberries are to die for. And lucky for me the Gilroy Costco sells them. So yummy.

It's crazy when you realize you live so close to something so foreign. Hooray for delicious strawberries, and that garden space on the window sill? AWESOME! I didn't know you had a pool? What I wouldn't give to go back and look for houses again. This time one with a pool. With Summer approaching we've already had days where it would have been used. Oh well. (How did you put that "Project Success" space on your blog? I realize every day just how little I know about computers and technology.)
The ocean, the one thing that could seriously tempt me to leave Utah. I make do with a lake, but it's really just a mediocre substitute for where I really crave to be. So if you keeping score tally one for Cali. I don't know maybe a day spent at the ocean should be worth more? I guess you decide, love the updates, hope all is well, will we see your 'Impression' link tomorrow from Sara's blog?
Syrina, I sure hope so. It's weird keeping up to date with everyone through the blog world, but grateful it's here so we can.
Tuttle Avenue! If I checked blogs more often, I would have seen it sooner. I hope whenever you drive pass Tuttle Avenue, you will think happy thoughts. ;)
